Spec Q&A: Ask Your Drawings Plain-English Questions

Finding a specific spec buried in a 200-page drawing set takes time. Spec Q&A lets you ask any question about the building in plain English and get an answer with the source page shown so you can verify it.

The chat interface lives on the project page alongside the Plans Room and building model. Questions are answered using the full OCR text from all classified project documents — every page, not just the extracted fields.

Multi-turn conversation

Spec Q&A supports follow-up questions in context. Start with "What is the ground snow load?" and follow up with "And what building code edition applies?" — the system tracks the conversation thread and keeps answers consistent.

Source citations

Each answer includes citations identifying which documents it drew from (e.g., "[DOC-3] Structural Spec"). Clickable citation thumbnails expand to show the source page image. Clicking the expanded image navigates directly to that page in the Plans Room.

What to ask

Common questions that save real time:

  • "What is the roof live load?"
  • "What type of insulation is specified?"
  • "What are the bay spacings?"
  • "Is there a crane rail specified?"
  • "What door sizes are required on the north wall?"
  • "What is the anchor bolt pattern?"

The system handles large projects with hundreds of pages via batched document processing — full coverage even on the biggest drawing sets.
