Redline Markup: Digital Construction Markups on Any Drawing

Contractors routinely mark up drawings during bid review to flag scope items, call out conflicts, or highlight areas for the estimating team. Digital redlines keep that markup alongside the drawing instead of on paper that gets lost.

The markup editor opens as a modal overlay from the drawing preview. Six tools cover every standard construction markup need. Markups are saved per drawing page and persist across sessions.

Six markup tools

  • Arrow: Point to specific elements or call out a dimension
  • Rectangle: Box an area of concern for review
  • Ellipse: Circle something that needs attention
  • Revision cloud: The construction industry standard for flagging areas with changes or questions
  • Freehand pen: Draw anything that doesn't fit a standard shape
  • Text label: Add a note at any location on the drawing

Two-canvas live preview

A two-canvas overlay system shows the markup you're drawing in real time before you commit it. You can see exactly how the shape will look before it's saved.

Visibility controls

The preview header has a toggle to show or hide markup and annotations independently. Toggle markup off to see the clean drawing underneath, then back on to review your notes. Markup count badges on Plans Room thumbnail cards show which drawings have marks without opening them.
